If you ticked many of the boxes in a variety of systems in the body, I am so sorry that you are suffering all these symptoms. I can only imagine what a struggle it would be for you on a day-to-day basis.
Even if you did in fact list many symptoms, It is still difficult to assess if you have MCAS, but there definitely could be a possibility. This is a condition where mast cells, which are those immune cells that release chemical mediators such as histamine and heparin, are overactive. Usually when there is inflammation in the mucosal passages lining the gut, respiratory system and urinary system, as well as other parts of the body, these cells release a flood of these inflammatory chemicals into the bloodstream and in so doing, may affect every organ in the body. Symptoms may include allergies and various skin conditions as a toddler and child that came and went, unexplained anxiety, disturbed gut function that might present as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD), as well as insomnia, headaches and poor wound healing – to just name a few.
There can be several triggers to cause these immune cells to be overactive, namely SIBO, imbalanced microbiome in the colon, H.pylori infection in the stomach, tick and insect air jordan 11 cherry holiday 2022 infections, mould exposure, and chemical exposures. You could also have one or more underlying autoimmune conditions that are responsible for your mast cells being overactive or you could have gene variants predisposing you to this condition. Or alternatively, you could be suffering from a few conditions that mimic MCAS.
As the symptoms of MCAS are systemic, covering a wide part of your body, it is not an easy condition to diagnose or to treat. Diagnosis, unfortunately, is more a process of elimination. There is no one test that will be definitive. We could examine the levels of histamine and other mediators, but that will not be enough for a diagnosis.
Due to the complexity of conditions such as MCAS, and as I don’t think there are enough answers out there in chronic inflammatory diseases, I have undergone training in an extensive 22 module course, consisting of 200 half-hour- three quarter hour lessons, on Functional Immunology, so that I can get a better handle on treating complex issues such as these.
Saying that, I still would treat you in the way I would treat any patient. I would look at you as an individual and not as a disease. I would take an extensive clinical history, examine your blood workup from your doctor, and, if necessary, carry out appropriate functional pathology tests (that are expensive and not covered by insurance), do a physical exam, and then bring it all together in an holistic naturopathic understanding summary.
Treatment would include diet and lifestyle recommendations (there are a few alternative diets I would use, that could really help), herbs, and nutritional supplements, all of which can be quite effective. I would be looking at modulating 200 - Riot Skateshop x Nike Reveals Two More Nike Low "Paisley" Colourways FZ1289 - Air Force 1 Crater White Copa and regulating your immune system and improving your gut health. However, if you are extremely sensitive to herbs and supplements, this could present a big hurdle in effective treatment and we need to find a way to overcome this. If you are such a sensitive person, you need to realise that recovery will not be instant and might involve a protracted time period.
When suffering from such a debilitating conditions, we often find ourselves believing that life will not get better and/or we don’t deserve to be healthy again. I feel that you can’t heal the body without the healing the brain and vice versa. It is for this reason that I am also running free and paid online courses that can deal with optimising your brain and mental health, and teaching you to let go of limiting beliefs and fixed mindset and improve your ability to change and neuroplasticity. These online courses are offered to anyone in the world. As chronic inflammatory disorders, such as MCAS, are complex, I cannot guarantee that I have all the answers for you. I believe most practitioners would be in the same boat. However, I would do what it took to improve your quality of life.
With my qualifications and experience in microbiology and biochemistry, my practice is focused on chronic inflammatory conditions especially functional gastrointestinal conditions such as SIBO and IBS. I also can assess how genetic mutations in certain enzymes can alter the expression of those enzymes and affect key biochemical pathways in the body. These two areas can be linked, as any gastrointestinal problem will interfere with nutrient absorption, and if you have certain gene issues, could be responsible for many underlying health conditions, such as mood issues, hormonal issues, detoxification, reduced metabolism of histamine, and fertility and pregnancy outcomes. Also, a healthy gut and microbiome can lead to healthy mast cells.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, my practice has now introduced Telehealth, so I am now in a favoured position to consult with patients all over Australia. While overseas consultations can be challenging, online courses can be easy. So you definitely have choices.
Also, I offer a 20-minute free chat so that you can see if I could be the right practitioner for your health issues. You will need to go to my website and book a free appointment. Once you click on one of the “book it” buttons on the main webpage, you will finally be directed to a page where you can register for a patient portal. Once you have completed this registration and booked a free appointment, you will have access to Telehealth and we can use this method to chat.
Additionally, what I can also offer you is a free Gut Questionnaire and simple analysis if you are interested. If you are, I will give you a link where you can obtain it. Once I look over it, I will send my email your simple assessment. You will find that the Questionnaire will have categories, each one pertaining to a different area of the gastrointestinal tract. The assessment will prioritise these areas according to your answers.
Whether I hear from you again, or not, I wish you well in your endeavours to heal any health issues that you might be experiencing and regain your quality of life.
