List of Blood Markers to be Included in Blood test
For your ease of reference, you will find below the blood tests that I would like you to do. Just be mindful that the doctor you choose might not want to include all these tests as they are vetted closely by Medicare.
- Complete Blood Count
- Liver Profile
- Iron Profile
- Electrolytes
- Protein, albumin and globulin
- Kidney profile
- Fasting glucose, HbA1c and if possible fasting insulin levels\
- Cholesterol profile
- hsCRP and ESR
- Amylase and Lipase
- Serum B12 and Active B12
- Homocysteine – While most doctors do not normally do this test, please ask for this marker as it really provides me more insight for nutritional intervention, methylation issues, and cardiovascular disease risk.
- Serum Folate
- Vitamin D
- Serum Zinc and Copper
- Selenium
- H. pylori – if have gut issues, especially gastric reflux
- Coeliac disease – antibodies and genes – if have gut and mood issues
- Thyroid profile including fee T4 and T3 and autoantibodies – While most doctors only do TSH, these other markers provide me with a more in-depth clue into thyroid dysfunction.
Once I have received the results, either by email or downloaded onto the File section of your patient portal, if you have also booked an appointment (and don’t forget to press the “<” button to share), I will prepare a comprehensive functional blood chemistry analysis report. This report will then be either emailed back to you within 48 hours, or I will go over the results (that you will ultimately receive) at a pre-booked consultation where I will offer diet, lifestyle and supplement recommendations.
If you choose not to go to a doctor, you can order individual tests or a combination of a few tests to cover the markers necessary. Provided below are some of the essential tests you might decide to order. If you do decide to purchase these tests yourself via the link provided, the results will come to you, not me, so you will need to attach the results to an email so that I can collate the data for the report.
The first three tests include many of the essential markers. If you are post-menopausal, you might choose to forgo the Well Woman Check and just opt for the Blood Chemistry Check instead.
